CHALLENGE
The main challenge can be defined as:
Produce a brand and all associated assets.
Create a clear and concise marketing website.
Update the existing UI for the product.
Update / improve the UX of the existing product.
RESEARCH
In such an over crowded environment, Hummingbird decided that the unique selling point of the product would be that they would target a very specific sector: SaaS businesses selling services into education. This arena was selected, as the team had successfully worked within that environment for the last 15 years.
USER INTERVIEWS
I spoke at length with the team who had been using the system for the last 15 years, to understand what they liked and disliked about the system, and look for areas where we could refine the flow and improve the whole UX.
The broad response from the team and also a few bsusinesses who had an expressed an interest in using the system, was the fact that simplicity was the key. By keeping the system simple users could adopt the product completeley and actaully use it in the workflow.
